Crochet Smash

Crochet flowers are one of my absolute favourite things to make. They are quick, satisfying, and the perfect way to use up those tiny balls of scrap yarn that we all have lying around.

But sometimes, standard crochet flowers can look a bit… flat.

Today, I am sharing a tutorial for a 2-Layer 3D Flower that really pops! This pattern uses front-post stitches to lift the petals off the background, giving it beautiful dimension and texture.

I will tell you the reasons to love this pattern:

If you have ever made a crochet flower, you know the struggle of having a messy center where all the yarn tails meet. In this video tutorial, I show you a special technique to create a neat “center disc” that hides all your ends nicely.

I use this flower for embellishing hats and other accessories. So the messyness of the back of the flower is not visible.

You can use them as appliques to make your crochet projects prettier.

Try stitching to a brooch back!

You can make “Mommy and Me” flowers by making a large one and a small one by changing the yarn sizes, yet crocheting them in the same colour.

Gauge is not important for this project. Use any type or size yarn you like. But remember to use the hook appropriate for the yarn.

I have created a step-by-step video tutorial to guide you through this pattern. I show you exactly where to place your hook to create the two distinct layers and how to achieve that clean, professional finish in the center.
